Log Using Process Monitor

Please perform the following steps before contacting Ceedo for technical support.

All steps should be performed on the machine on which the problem occurs.

  1. If there are any error messages or other visual indications, capture the screen and save the image to a file.
  2. Close the faulty application and shut down Ceedo.
  3. Windows XP/2000 only: Download and install Microsoft Debugging Tools for Windows (32-bit).
  4. Download Process Monitor from Microsoft Technet.
  5. Extract the Process Monitor executable (procmon.exe) from the downloaded ZIP file, ProcessMonitor.zip and run it.
  6. If the Process Monitor window becomes filled with data, press Ctrl+E key on your keyboard - Windows XP only - to stop Process Monitor from capturing events, and wait for the message box to disappear and then press Ctrl+X to clear all the current events from the main application window.






  7. Windows XP/2000 only: - Configure the symbols support in Process Monitor:
    1. Click on Options ⇔ Configure Symbols… in the menu bar.


    2. Click on the ellipsis button to the right of the dbghelp.dll path text box.


    3. Navigate to the Debugging Tools for Windows (which you installed in step 2 above) installation folder. Usually the folder is “C:\Program Files\Debugging Tools for Windows”.
    4. Select the file dbghelp.dll and click “Open”.


    5. In the “Symbol paths” edit box type
      srv*C:\WINDOWS\Symbols*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols
    6. If your Windows directory is not C:\WINDOWS, replace the “C:\WINDOWS” part with the correct path.


    7. Click OK.
  8. Start Ceedo.
  9. Return to the Process Monitor window and press Ctrl+E to start capturing events - The window will once again fill with data


  10. Start the faulty application and recreate the problem.
  11. Once again return to Process Monitor and press Ctrl+E to stop capturing events.
  12. Click on File|Save… to save the event log recorded by Process Monitor.


    1. In the “Save To File” dialog that appears make sure that All events and Native Process Monitor Format (PML) are selected.
    2. Type a path for the log file and click “OK”. The Process Monitor log is now saved.


Compress the Process Monitor log file and screen capture(s) (if any) to a ZIP or RAR archive.

E-mail our Support Team a description of your problem and attach the compressed archive.

The Process Monitor log file may be very large. If sending it as an attachment is unfeasible, please mention this in your e-mail and the Ceedo support team will arrange an alternative means for you to get the file to us.
